NEBOSH International Diploma (NEBOSH IDIP): Level 6 Course Online

The NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals, usually called the NEBOSH International Diploma or NEBOSH IDip, is NEBOSH’s advanced health and safety qualification. It builds directly on the knowledge in the NEBOSH International General Certificate, and prepares you for a career as a health and safety professional. NEBOSH also describes it as a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study.

M2Y Global Academy offers the NEBOSH International Diploma online with live, tutor-led sessions [confirm format]. This page explains the three units, how each is assessed, the entry guidance, the study hours NEBOSH expects, how the qualification is recognised, and what to check before you enrol.

How the NEBOSH IDip Is Recognised

  • Regulation: the qualification is regulated by Ofqual at RQF Level 6. NEBOSH has been recognised by Ofqual as an awarding body since 2023.

  • IOSH: NEBOSH states that its Level 6 National and International Diplomas meet IOSH’s academic requirements to apply for membership at the appropriate grade. IOSH keeps the right to change its standards and entry requirements, and also sets experience requirements, so check its current criteria when you apply. See IOSH’s Certified membership page.

  • Other bodies: NEBOSH also states that recognition by BCSP, BCRSP and IIRSM remains in place for its diplomas.

  • BCSP and the CSP: BCSP lists the NEBOSH National and International Diplomas among the qualified credentials for the Certified Safety Professional, but the CSP also needs a degree, four years’ experience and a passing exam. See our Certified Safety Professional (CSP) page.

  • Employers: many employers ask for NEBOSH qualifications, but requirements vary by employer, sector and country.

NEBOSH IDIP is the common short name for the NEBOSH International Diploma.

It is regulated at RQF Level 6, the same level as a bachelor's degree in England. It is a professional diploma, not an academic degree.
